NEW YORK (CBSNewYork)– If you're like millions of Americans, you've been spending hours working at your home computer, and chances are that many of you are feeling all type of aches and discomforts.
Is your back hurting? Wrist throbbing? It may be your house workspace and those unusual work positions.
“You lost a nice desk height. You lost a great workplace chair. You lost your desktop and are now using a laptop more often, and this results in sort of three areas which I've truly seen an increase in kind of musculoskeletal problems,” chiropractic doctor Dr. Andrew Bang, of the Cleveland Clinic, stated.
“If you're doing repetitive action, you're going to have discomfort. That's all that's occurring at our workstations in your home,” he stated.
The easiest solution is to change your position throughout the day to give tired muscles a break, CBS2's Dr. Max Gomez states.
“You wish to get up, move around, maybe you have every hour where you're standing and working for a couple of phone calls you have, on a teleconference. Or you're changing your cooking area table chair for that medicine ball that sits in the basement that you never use. You're going to utilize that for 20 or thirty minutes, but then you're going to switch back to the chair,” Bang stated.
